The Bravery is an American rock band formed in New York City in 2003. Led by vocalist and guitarist Sam Endicott alongside keyboardist John Conway, guitarist Michael Zakarin, bassist Mike Hindert, and drummer Anthony Burulcich, the band emerged during the city’s early-2000s post-punk revival. Their sound mixed alternative rock, new wave, post-punk, and dance-rock, with guitars and synthesizers working together to create the energetic style that helped earn The Bravery a deal with Island Records.

The band’s self-titled debut arrived in 2005 and brought them international attention, led by their breakthrough single An Honest Mistake, which reached No. 7 on the UK Singles Chart. Songs such as Unconditional and Fearless also became part of the band’s early identity. The Bravery changed direction somewhat with The Sun and the Moon in 2007, moving away from some of the electronic elements of the debut toward a more guitar-focused rock sound. Tracks including Time Won’t Let Me Go and Believe reflected that shift, while their third album, Stir the Blood, followed in 2009.

Touring took The Bravery from New York clubs to venues and festivals around the world as they supported their three studio albums. After years of recording and performing, the band entered a lengthy period of inactivity during the 2010s as its members pursued other projects. The Bravery eventually reunited with its original five-member lineup and returned to performing, giving fans another opportunity to hear the mix of guitars, keyboards, and dance-influenced rock that first brought the band attention in the mid-2000s.
