Talas is a hard rock band that formed in Buffalo, New York, in the early 1970s as a vehicle for the impressive talent of bassist Billy Sheehan. Talas is best known for having launched the career of that talented musician, as well as for their intense and powerful live performances. Playing a hard driving, heavy rock style that is also technically impressive, Talas never achieved major commercial success, but they had a loyal following of fans.

Talas got to open for a variety of acts, including Van Halen, Aerosmith, Y&T, to name a few, while honing their craft and becoming one of the hardest working and best live act’s on the club and theater circuit of the late 70’s and early 80’s. Much of the attention of that time was on the then innovative playing of Billy Sheehan on bass, earning him accolades and being one of the highest influences on the rock bass playing of the following generation. His later success with artists such as David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, Niacin and The Winery Dogs has in turn sparked renewed interest in the music of Talas and has introduced their guitar driven hard rock to a whole new audience.
