Something Corporate

Something Corporate is an American rock band formed in Orange County, California, in 1998. Led by vocalist and pianist Andrew McMahon, the band developed a distinctive mix of alternative rock, pop punk, and piano-driven songwriting. The lineup that became best known featured McMahon alongside guitarists Josh Partington and William Tell, bassist Kevin “Clutch” Page, and drummer Brian Ireland. After building a following in Southern California, Something Corporate signed with Drive-Thru Records and gained wider attention with the EP Audioboxer and the song If U C Jordan.

The band’s first major-label album, Leaving Through the Window, arrived in 2002 and featured songs including I Woke Up in a Car, Punk Rock Princess, and Hurricane. Something Corporate followed it with North in 2003, which included Space and Ruthless. McMahon’s prominent piano playing gave the band’s music a recognizable character, combining the energy of early-2000s pop punk with more reflective songwriting and alternative rock influences. Although their initial run was relatively brief, the band’s music developed a loyal following that continued well beyond those early releases.

Touring played a major role in Something Corporate’s rise, taking the band from clubs to larger venues and festival stages during the early 2000s. The group went on hiatus in the mid-2000s as McMahon moved forward with Jack’s Mannequin and other members pursued different projects. Something Corporate later reunited for select performances, and in recent years the band has returned to the stage for reunion tours and festival appearances, reconnecting with an audience that grew up with their music.

Authentic Something Corporate guitar picks and memorabilia offer collectors a connection to a distinctive part of the early-2000s alternative and pop-punk era. Pieces associated with different concerts, tours, and reunion performances capture the history of a band whose combination of piano, guitars, and melodic songwriting gave it a sound of its own.
