Hellyeah

HELLYEAH is an American heavy metal supergroup formed in Dallas, Texas, in 2006. The original lineup brought together vocalist Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett of Mudvayne, guitarist Tom Maxwell of Nothingface, bassist Jerry Montano, and drummer Vinnie Paul of Pantera and Damageplan. Their sound pulled from groove metal, alternative metal, and hard rock, with a Southern metal edge that gave the band its own identity. Their self-titled debut arrived in 2007, reaching No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and introducing songs such as You Wouldn’t Know and Alcohaulin’ Ass.
HELLYEAH continued to develop its sound with Stampede in 2010, Band of Brothers in 2012, Blood for Blood in 2014, and Unden!able in 2016. Songs including Band of Brothers, Moth, Hush, and Human became some of the better-known tracks from this period. The lineup changed along the way, but Chad Gray, Tom Maxwell, and Vinnie Paul remained central to the band through much of its career. Paul’s powerful drumming, already familiar to generations of Pantera fans, became an important part of HELLYEAH’s sound until his death in 2018 at the age of 54.
Before his death, Vinnie Paul had completed the drum tracks for HELLYEAH’s sixth studio album, Welcome Home. The album was finished and released in 2019, making it his final studio recording with the band. Roy Mayorga later joined HELLYEAH for live performances as the band returned to the road. Across six studio albums and years of touring, HELLYEAH developed a following of its own while maintaining strong connections to several notable bands in modern metal. The group has remained on hiatus in recent years.
HELLYEAH’s years of touring produced guitar picks, backstage passes, tour laminates, and other memorabilia connected to different albums, lineups, and periods of the band’s career. For collectors, these pieces offer a connection to the band’s history and an especially significant chapter in Vinnie Paul’s remarkable career behind the drums.
