Gin Blossoms is an American alternative rock band formed in Tempe, Arizona, in 1987. Coming out of the local college-rock scene, the band developed a melodic sound built around jangly guitars, strong hooks, and lyrics that often carried a bittersweet edge. Their major breakthrough came with New Miserable Experience, released in 1992. Songs such as Hey Jealousy, Found Out About You, Allison Road, and Until I Fall Away helped turn the album into a major success and made Gin Blossoms one of the most recognizable alternative rock bands of the early 1990s.

Guitarist and songwriter Doug Hopkins played an important role in that breakthrough, writing Hey Jealousy and Found Out About You, but he left the band around the time New Miserable Experience was being completed and died in 1993. Gin Blossoms carried on and proved that their story was far from over. Til I Hear It from You, recorded for the Empire Records soundtrack, became another major radio hit, while the 1996 album Congratulations I’m Sorry produced Follow You Down and the Grammy-nominated As Long as It Matters. The album went platinum in the United States.

After breaking up in 1997, Gin Blossoms reunited around the end of 2001 and returned to regular touring. New albums followed, including Major Lodge Victory, No Chocolate Cake, and Mixed Reality. Decades after their original breakthrough, songs such as Hey Jealousy and Found Out About You remain closely associated with 1990s alternative rock, while the band continues to perform for audiences around the country. Their hometown even honored their legacy in 2022 by naming a section of 8th Street in Tempe “Allison Road Avenue.”
