Chris Isaak is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and actor whose music sounds like it could have come from another era while remaining unmistakably his own. Born in Stockton, California, Isaak built his style around early rock and roll, rockabilly, country, and atmospheric pop, with a voice often compared to Roy Orbison and a visual style that recalled the classic stars of the 1950s. He released his debut album, Silvertone, in 1985, beginning a recording career that would eventually take his moody, echo-filled sound to audiences around the world.

The breakthrough came with Heart Shaped World and a song that has become inseparable from Chris Isaak’s career: Wicked Game. Released on the album in 1989, the song found a much larger audience after an instrumental version was featured in David Lynch’s film Wild at Heart. It eventually became a Top 10 hit in the United States and helped turn Heart Shaped World into a million-selling album. Isaak followed with albums including San Francisco Days and Forever Blue, producing memorable songs such as Somebody’s Crying, Blue Hotel, and Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing.

Isaak has never limited himself to making records. He has appeared in films including The Silence of the Lambs and That Thing You Do!, starred in his own television series, The Chris Isaak Show, and spent decades performing with his longtime band Silvertone. Through it all, the live show has remained an important part of his career, with Isaak continuing to tour and perform for audiences more than 40 years after releasing his first album.
