Bonfire

Bonfire is a German hard rock and heavy metal band whose roots date back to 1972 in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, when guitarist Hans Ziller formed a group called Cacumen. After years of performing and recording under that name, the band became Bonfire in 1986. With Ziller on guitar and Claus Lessmann on vocals, Bonfire developed a melodic hard rock sound built around powerful guitar riffs, memorable choruses, and polished songwriting. Their first album under the Bonfire name, Don’t Touch the Light, was released in 1986 and introduced the band to a wider international audience.
Bonfire followed with Fireworks in 1987, an album that became one of the defining releases of their career and spent 30 weeks on the German album chart. Songs such as Ready 4 Reaction, Sweet Obsession, and You Make Me Feel became enduring favorites among fans of melodic hard rock. Point Blank followed in 1989, extending a run of albums that established Bonfire as a recognizable name in the European hard rock scene during the late 1980s.
The band’s history has included numerous lineup changes and periods of transition, but Hans Ziller has remained the central figure behind Bonfire for most of its existence. After returning in the mid-1990s, the band continued recording and touring extensively, releasing numerous studio and live albums over the following decades. More than three decades after their breakthrough, Bonfire remains active, carrying its melodic hard rock sound to longtime listeners as well as newer generations of fans.
