Blind Melon was an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1990. Fronted by vocalist Shannon Hoon, the band blended alternative rock, folk rock, psychedelic rock, and blues influences to create a distinctive sound that stood apart from many of their contemporaries. Their self-titled debut album introduced listeners to songs such as No Rain, Tones of Home, and Change, with No Rain becoming an international hit and helping establish Blind Melon as one of the most distinctive alternative rock bands of the early 1990s.

Although Blind Melon’s commercial success was cut short by the death of Shannon Hoon in 1995, the band’s music has continued to earn critical acclaim and attract new generations of listeners. Their follow-up album, Soup, has become especially respected for its adventurous songwriting and musical depth, while Hoon’s expressive vocals and the band’s organic musicianship remain central to their enduring appeal. Blind Melon’s blend of melody, improvisation, and heartfelt songwriting has secured the band’s place in alternative rock history.
