Bang Tango is an American hard rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1988 by singer Joe Lesté. The group was active during the Sunset Strip metal years, and, unlike a lot of the other hard rock bands of that time, they brought a unique musical style that mixed together the elements of hard rock, glam metal, funk, and blues to create their own groove-oriented hard rock sound. Their debut album, *Psycho Café*, contained hits like “Someone Like You”, “Dancin’ on Coals”, and “Breaking Up a Heart of Stone”, making Bang Tango one of the most memorable bands to have emerged from the Sunset Strip scene in the late 1980s.

As hard rock of the late 1980s continued to follow in the footprints of earlier hard rock and glam metal, many of the bands from the Sunset Strip area had sounded much the same. Bang Tango was to be one of the exceptions to this rule. Frontman for the group was to be found in the charismatic Joe Lesté. The band’s unique hard rock style incorporated elements of funk, blues, and soul which contrasted with the majority of other similar acts on the scene. The result was to gain them their own following of fans who appreciated the fresh perspective of the band’s music and their powerful live performances that saw the band tour extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad. The albums *Psycho Café* and *Dancin’ on Coals* are still considered to be two of the bands most respected works by fans of classic hard rock as well as by fans of the glam metal genre in particular.
